Support the International Center
It is the International Center's mission to play a key role in facilitating the growth of international education on campus and in the community through programs designed to promote cross-cultural interaction and understanding.. It is also the International Center's top priority to ensure that international students, scholars and their dependents integrate successfully into campus and community life.
GET INVOLVED
There are many ways you can become involved and support the mission of the IC:- Giving: Ways to Give
- Internship and Volunteer Opportunities
There are a number of ways that you can assist the IC staff ranging from office/clerical assistance to helping with our programs. We also welcome internships. Past interns have helped us with:
- the design, implementation and report writing for surveys,
- publications and legwork needed for our campus and community programs
- writing press releases as well as articles for our newsletter
- research on immigration law for special cases and policy decisions.
- Be a Friend: Find out How
The IFP matches new international students at FSU with people in the community or American students with international families for the purpose of sharing friendship and culture. Through this program, international students have an opportunity to meet local residents and learn more about local culture. Students do not live with their Tallahassee friends; however, friends meet independently and participate in a variety of social and recreational activities throughout the year. Consider joining!
- Be an Ambassador: How Do I volunteer?
The Global Ambassador Program is a chance for international students, scholars, and faculty to spread awareness about their country and culture to schools and organizations throughout the Tallahassee community. The International Center arranges speaking engagements in classrooms, with community organizations and in other settings.
- Share your Talents! What Venues are Available?
There are a number of programs available for sharing your talents: Coffee Hour (performances), the IC Art Gallery (visual art), English Conversation Club (TESL), Global Café (cuisine), Global Gatherings (research, culture, travel, and more), International Women’s Group (be a host, share your arts/crafts), and, the cultural highlight of the year -- International Bazaar (cuisine, performances, displays). Not sure where to start? Call the Campus and Community programs Coordinator at 644-1324.
- Just Have Fun and Enrich you Lives: Where do I start?
We, at the International Center (IC), invite you to be part of our exciting world! Our programs help international students and scholars transition to FSU and provide opportunities to experience American culture. IC services and programs play a vibrant role in both the educational and cultural experience for all FSU students and promote interactions with the university and Tallahassee community to open doors to a worldwide exchange of ideas and sharing of cultural wealth. So just come and join the fun!
